Gigbeth Conference 2007

The Conference will return in 2007, once again bringing education and industry together. The conference is for those who work in the music industry and education. By bringing both sectors together the conference will offer fresh approaches that can bring closer working relationships between education and industry.

This year’s subject will be how technology is affecting the way we learn, create and consume music…

As last year the conference will be a Powerpoint free zone with interesting speakers from both music education and industry to provide a different perspective for those already in the respective industries.

Come and get involved with discussion groups and key debates about how new technology is affecting us all, along with the great opportunities to network throughout the day and over the Gigbeth Weekend.

Making The Move offers an educational element to Gigbeth. Rather than a simple speaker-led seminar, the conference is designed to engage delegates in round table debates led by the speakers, on issues raised in the main speeches.

In 2006, the conference attracted 150 delegates from throughout the UK. These included music teachers, students, managers, musicians, record labels and organisations, but to name a few. The Key Note Speaker was music legend Joan Armatrading, who gave a detailed insight into music as a working industry. Other speakers included Christina Coker MBE, Tony Wilson, Leonora Davies, Wendy Smith and Martin Elbourne.

Details of speakers and topics for the 2007 conference will be announced in the run up to the event, after consultation with the Gigbeth Steering Group and individuals involved in the Gigbeth planning.

The conference will take place at the Radisson Hotel on Thursday 1st November 2007.
